Ed was first spotted hanging with Swift back on Oct. 12, as the Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos. Two weeks later, he told PEOPLE that he was impressed with the singer, whom he called "very genuine," in part because she went around and cleaned up trash in their suite.

“I'm just thinking, I don't think she got the diva memo. She didn't get the spoiled musician. She doesn't know how to pull that off. And that really to me said a whole lot.”

Ed added, “She's very smart. I mean, very. That comes through right away.”

Ed later admitted, though, that he didn't recognize the superstar when they first met.

“Taylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], 'Oh my God! I know this kid, but I don't know what her name is.' Jeez, you know, like a real idiot. And [my girlfriend] says, 'You don't know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot,' " he said in January.

The Chiefs next face off against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Sept. 15.
