Eddie Murphy Delivers Long-Awaited Update on 'Shrek 5'
After years of speculation and waiting, fans finally received a solid update on a fifth Shrek movie in April 2023, when Illumination's CEO revealed that the studio was negotiating with the franchise's key actors to return for a sequel. Not much has been said about the potential sequel since then, however—until now. In an interview with Collider to promote Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Eddie Murphy confirmed that Shrek 5 is set to be released in 2025 and that he's already recorded lines as his character Donkey. Not only that, but a Donkey spinoff is in the works as well.
