Elizabeth Debicki Channels Princess Diana’s Elegance in a Velvet Gown at the 2024 Emmys

Elizabeth Debicki looked like red-carpet royalty at the 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
On Sunday evening, the actor arrived at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles for the 2024 Emmys, where she emulated Princess Diana's graceful elegance in a sophisticated black velvet ball gown from Dior. She kept her accessories to a minimum, wearing diamond drop earrings, a silver bracelet, and a diamond-encrusted ring.
Tonight, Debicki is among several nominees for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, which has recognized her performance as Princess Diana in Netflix's The Crown. She was previously nominated in the same category at the 2023 ceremony, though the Emmy ultimately went to Jennifer Coolidge for her work on HBO's The White Lotus.
Debicki stepped into the role of the late Princess Diana for seasons five and six of The Crown. (Emma Corrin previously played a younger version of the royal in seasons three and four.)
She opened up about the pressures of playing a beloved public figure in a 2023 interview with Harper's Bazaar.
“I think Princess Diana, in the way that I’ve tried to play her, is someone who tries to make people at ease, but it’s not often that she’s going to come across someone of a certain status in life who is able to facilitate a kind of lifestyle and understand [her] needs,” Debicki said of the Princess of Wales, who died in a car crash in 1997. “My Diana is someone who’s not been listened to very well or given a lot of space to be seen in a certain light. The way that Khalid [Abdalla] played Dodi informed a lot of what I found out in the relationship—that he’s very gentle, he’s very loving, he listens in an incredible way.”
