Elizabeth Olsen Callously Dumped Boyd Holbrook, According to Boyd Holbrook

Elizabeth Olsen didn’t break up with Boyd Holbrook by Post-it note or text message, but it wasn’t much better, the heartbroken model/actor/artist says.
Olsen and Holbrook, who met on the set of Very Good Girls in 2012, ended their engagement on Oct. 26, 2014 — aka the worst day of his life. “On the same day that my best friend died, I got a call from my girl to tell me it was over,” he said in issue No. 14 of Man of the World.
His best friend was photographer David Armstrong, with whom he frequently collaborated. Between the photog’s death and the demise of his relationship, Holbrook was left “consumed with my own personal depression, my own personal scenario at the time.”

Holbrook moved out of the Williamsburg, Brooklyn, apartment he shared with Olsen and relocated about three hours north to a small town outside of Woodstock, New York. He spends his time landscaping and working with documentary director and producer Madeleine Sackler on projects. It’s helped lift him from his rut.
“What happened over the course of the journey was that I started noticing the different types of trees,” he told the magazine. “I started noticing beauty, the details.”
While Holbrook and Olsen never confirmed their engagement while they were together, he popped the question during a trip to Paris in March 2014. The actress, who was linked to Tom Hiddleston over the summer, has never spoken out about calling off their engagement. (Keeping quiet about her love life is a family trait for Olsen. Her big sis Mary-Kate has yet to confirm her November nuptials with Olivier Sarkozy.)
Phone call breakups are never great, but they happen — even to celebrities. Last year, Jordin Sparks said Jason Derulo ended their three-year relationship by phone because he “wasn’t in town.” Then there was the time Joe Jonas dumped Taylor Swift during a 27-second phone call. The phone is step up from a text message though, which was the way Russell Brand ended his marriage to Katy Perry.
