Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Movie Rumor Addressed by Agatha Series Creator
Elizabeth Olsen has portrayed Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for about a decade. Her last appearance as the live-action version of the character was in the 2022 feature Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Olsen later voiced a variant of her character in the second season of What If…? as well. Recently, there have been rumors about a potential solo Scarlet Witch movie. And now, Agatha All Along creator Jac Schaeffer has addressed the growing speculations.
Marvel’s Jac Schaeffer hopes for Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch movie to happen
Schaeffer said in a recent interview that she hoped for an MCU movie centered around Scarlet Witch and had her “fingers crossed.” She previously created and served as the showrunner of WandaVision, a 2021 miniseries about the character.
During an interview with Variety, Schaeffer was asked when she would start shooting the Scarlet Witch movie. “I mean, I’m just here hoping for a Scarlet Witch movie, right? We all want Wanda, so fingers crossed that’s a thing that happens,” she said in response.
Schaeffer added that she was now busy with Agatha All Along, and so couldn’t “quite see through the trees.” She said, “I don’t know! I’m in witchy Agatha-land right now, and I can’t quite see through the trees, but we’re hoping.”
She also acknowledged that the prospective project wasn’t something she could speak to the press about “right now.”
Schaeffer’s response comes after Production Weekly reportedly claimed that a Scarlet Witch movie with the tentative release date of 2026 was in development. During her recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Olsen speculated on her MCU character’s fate. Although she said she thought Wanda was dead, she admitted that she would “beg to leave a window open” in case Wanda was still alive.
