Ella Emhoff at DNC to support stepmom, Kamala Harris. Will she speak?

Vice President Kamala Harris was the main attraction at the first night of Democratic National Convention, but her stepdaughter Ella Emhoff caught some attention, too.

Ella stood in the crowd alongside her father, Harris's husband of 10 years, Douglas Emhoff as she sported the popular Harris-Walz camo hat in support of her stepmom's campaign for president.

Here's what we know about the potential new first daughter.

Who is Kamala Harris’ daughter?

Kamala Harris became stepmom to Doug Emhoff's two children, Cole and Ella, from his first marriage to Kerstin Emhoff, when the two were married in 2014.

Cole Emhoff, 30, works in entertainment like his mother; Ella Emhoff, 25, is a model and fashion designer in New York.

In a 2019 article in Elle, Harris said Cole was named after American jazz musician John Coltrane while Ella was named after American jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald.

Cole and Ella affectionately nicknamed Harris Momala.

Ella graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York City in May of 2021 and Cole got married to Greenley Littlejohn in October 2023. Harris officiated their wedding.

Who is Ella Emhoff?

According to her social media posts, Ella Emhoff is a young artist and runs Soft Hands Knit Club.

Emhoff recently revealed that she was born with a tethered spine which she explained "caused my back to not properly lengthen when I was growing and caused a kyphosis (hunchback) Was in and out of doctors and PT for most of my adolescence Got lower back surgery grew a million inches and now deal with chronic pain."

In that post, she said "it's actually very comforting" seeing how many people responded that relate to chronic pain, while "also very sad."

She includes a link to her personal list of pain management, which includes a recently controversial "ketamine" therapy among other options.

Emhoff has also used her social media platform to guide people to register to vote.

Will Ella Emhoff speak at DNC?

Ella Emhoff was a visible presence at the first night of the Democratic National Convention Monday night, but its not clear if the popular young artist will take the podium this week.

Her father, second gentleman Doug Emhoff will headline Tuesday’s lineup. And Kamala Harris will wrap up the convention on Thursday with an acceptance speech.

At the Republican National Convention last month, Donald Trump Jr. spoke ahead of his father Donald Trump’s acceptance speech.
