'Ella McCay' nearly done filming in Providence
PROVIDENCE – Twentieth Century Studios is just about done shooting "Ella McCay" in and around Providence.
The James L. Brooks film, starring Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Albert Brooks and Spike Fearn, tells the story of an idealistic candidate trying to balance her political ambitions with family issues.
The production's main unit is expected to wrap filming Friday; the second unit began work Thursday.
On Thursday, the second unit shot a scene in the Viola Building, a few blocks down Broadway from where the production built an imaginary bar called "Helen's 445" inside a vacant former convenience store at Broadway and Almy Street.
