After interviewing Caitlyn Jenner for the season premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the host herself was surprised by the former Olympian's views on same-sex marriage.
"She still has a judgment about gay marriage," Ellen DeGeneres told Howard Stern on Tuesday's installment of his SiriusXM show.
Jenner admitted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she previously had not supported gay marriage. "'I'm a traditionalist," she said. "I'm older than most people in the audience. I kind of like tradition, and it's always been a man and a woman, and I'm thinking 'I don't quite get it.'"
However, the 65-year-old, who came out as transgender in April, went on the say that her views have changed over time to, "I don't ever want to stand in front of anybody's happiness,'" even though she is still a conservative Republican.

Speaking with Stern, DeGeneres acknowledged that Jenner's views are confusing. "I said, 'You're wanting people to understand and accept you - this is like, really confusing to people, and you still have a judgment about gay people and marriage,'" she said. "She goes, 'Well, if the word marriage is that important.' It is because that's the word. We want the same thing."
DeGeneres added that Jenner was a great interview and despite the confusion, said that she wants Jenner to be happy. "I don't really know her," she said, "and I'm trying to understand it because I don't fully understand it either but I also want everybody to be happy. I want her to be happy, which is what I want for her, for me."
