Damnation comes to USA in drama's explosive first trailer

It looks like Preacher has some competition in the violent man of God department.

EW is exclusively debuting the explosive first trailer for USA’s upcoming drama Damnation, which continues the network’s transition from “blue skies” programming to darker dramas.

Perfectly set to Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks,” the trailer shows the 1930s American heartland during “the battle between rich and poor.” On one side is Seth Davenport (Killian Scott), a man posing as a small town Iowa preacher in an attempt to lead an uprising against the status quo. Working against such an insurrection is professional strikebreaker Creeley Turner (Logan Marshall-Green). The promo’s log line of “Two brothers on opposing sides” could provide a hint into the bloody past shared by the two men.

When Davenport walks in on him having sex, Turner pulls a gun and asks, “You gonna save my poor mortal soul?” This prompts the preacher to get closer and put the gun to his forehead, declaring, “No, I’ll kill you and drag you to hell with me.”

Created by former Longmire writer Tony Tost, the period series, which premieres in October, boasts an impressive roster of executive producers, including filmmakers James Mangold (Logan) and David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water), who directed the pilot.
