Emily Osment Has a Clever Idea for Her 'Young Sheldon' Spinoff
The Big Bang Theory’s spinoff is getting a spinoff.
In early March, CBS officially ordered a new Young Sheldon spinoff series to replace the hit comedy, which is ending in May. Young Sheldon is itself a prequel series to The Big Bang Theory, so the new series will be a rare double-spinoff.
The as-yet-untitled new series will follow Young Sheldon’s George Cooper Jr., aka Georgie (Montana Jordan), and Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment) as they build a life together with their family in 1990s Texas.
Warner Bros., the studio that makes the shows, is also developing another Big Bang Theory spinoff for the streaming service Max, but that remains in very early development.
Here’s everything we know so far about Young Sheldon’s Georgie & Mandy spinoff, including release date and cast.

What is the Georgie & Mandy spinoff release date?
The show is slated to air as part of CBS’ 2024-25 broadcast season. No other details, such as premiere date or episode count, have been announced at this point, but we’ll update this post as information becomes available.
What is the Georgie & Mandy spinoff about?
While specific details about the spinoff have not been announced, it will presumably pick up wherever Young Sheldon leaves off. Georgie & Mandy will be getting married on Young Sheldon soon, so their spinoff will continue the adventures of Sheldon Cooper’s (Iain Armitage) brother and sister-in-law and their baby daughter CeeCee while Sheldon is away at Caltech studying physics.
Here’s the official description of the series, via Deadline: “The sequel series follows Young Sheldon’s Georgie and Mandy as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage.”
On the career front, Georgie will presumably start his journey to becoming a successful tire salesman (more on that below). Mandy used to work as a TV weather reporter, and she could potentially return to that if she doesn't do something else. "I definitely see her having some sort of a career," Osment said in an interview with TVLine. "I don't think they can have Mandy just be mom and wife. It's much funnier when women are stressed out over their career than their children."
Georgie and Mandy got together in Young Sheldon Season 5. Mandy is about 12 years older than Georgie, and they both lied about their ages when they first started dating. But Georgie didn’t tell her the truth that he was only 17 until after they had slept together, and then Mandy found out she was pregnant. Mandy understandably wanted nothing to do with Georgie after that, but over time he demonstrated that he really loved her and was serious about becoming a husband and a father, and they embarked on a relationship for real. CeeCee was born in Season 6; she is named Constance, after her great-grandmother Constance Tucker (Annie Potts), who is Georgie’s Meemaw and Mandy’s former roommate.

Who is in the Georgie & Mandy spinoff cast?
There are only two cast members confirmed so far, and you can probably guess who they are.
Montana Jordan as George Cooper Jr.
Georgie is the older brother of twins Sheldon and Missy (Raegan Revord), the husband of Mandy, and the father of CeeCee. To put it nicely, he’s not a deep thinker like his brother, and he has a lot of growing up to do, but he has a good heart and he loves his family.
Emily Osment as Mandy McAllister
Mandy is George’s wife and CeeCee’s mother. She’s smart and kind, though she can be headstrong. She has a great relationship with the Coopers, and she’s working on repairing her relationship with her own parents.
We assume that other members of the Cooper family will also appear—it’s hard to imagine a show about Georgie and Mandy without Meemaw, right?—but no one else has been confirmed.
Who is on the Georgie & Mandy spinoff creative team?
The spinoff is created by Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Steve Holland, all of whom previously worked on The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. Lorre is a powerful and prolific producer of many shows who co-created The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. Molaro is the co-creator of Young Sheldon who also worked for many years as the showrunner of The Big Bang Theory. And Holland was The Big Bang Theory’s showrunner for its final season. After it ended, he became an executive producer on Young Sheldon. So fans of the franchise are in good hands.
How will the Georgie & Mandy spinoff be different from Young Sheldon?
The new series will be a multi-camera series filmed in front of a live studio audience, so it will stylistically be more like The Big Bang Theory than Young Sheldon, which is a single-camera sitcom without a laugh track.
Osment, who has appeared in several multi-cam sitcoms including Hannah Montana and Mom, is excited to return to the format, and for her co-star Jordan to experience acting in front of a live audience for the first time. "There's something different about performing in front of people that are actually there to watch you perform," she told TVLine. "It sort of ignites something new in your performance, and it's wonderful."
How will the Georgie & Mandy spinoff connect to The Big Bang Theory?
On The Big Bang Theory, adult Georgie was played by Jerry O’Connell. He grew up to be the successful owner of a local chain of tire stores. In the series finale, Sheldon references him having at least two ex-wives, which implies that he and Mandy eventually get divorced.
While this seems like a sad future we don’t want to see for Georgie and Mandy, it’s important to remember that Young Sheldon has diverted from how Sheldon recalled events on The Big Bang Theory significantly. George Sr. (Lance Barber) on Young Sheldon is very different from the philandering alcoholic Sheldon describes on The Big Bang Theory. On The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon once told a story about walking in on his father cheating on his mother. But a recent episode of Young Sheldon revealed it wasn’t another woman at all, it was Mary (Zoe Perry) in a costume and a wig. So just because Georgie and Mandy are divorced on The Big Bang Theory doesn’t mean that will happen on their spinoff.
Emily Osment has an idea for a workaround. "I'm hoping that I'm the ex-wife and the new wife," she told TVLine. "People do that. People get divorced and then get remarried. Why can't she be both?"
In the same interview, she and Jordan said that the only thing established about Georgie on The Big Bang Theory that the writers definitely have to stick with for the spinoff is the tire store, and there are a lot of directions they could go with that. And Georgie eventually getting into the tire business has already been set up on Young Sheldon, as his father-in-law Jim (Will Sasso) owns a tire store.
Where to watch the Georgie and Mandy spinoff
The Georgie and Mandy spinoff will air on CBS. It will presumably stream on Paramount+.
