Emma Roberts Announced Her Engagement to Cody John While Trolling Her Mom

Congratulations are in order for the ultimate scream queen Emma Roberts who announced she is engaged to longtime boyfriend Cody John.
The American Horror Story star broke the news with a selfie posted to Instagram, in which she and the In the Dark actor smile widely as Roberts holds her hand up, showing off a sparkly diamond ring on her finger.

"Putting this here before my mom tells everyone ??," she cheekily wrote under the photo. Roberts's caption is a reference to the time her mom, Kelly Cunningham, publicly confirmed the actress's pregnancy with ex-boyfriend Garrett Hedlund back in 2020. At the time, Roberts blocked her mother on Instagram.
The pair's celebrity friends, including Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale, and Nina Dobrev, took to the comments section to congratulate the couple. Lea Michele also wrote, "Already planning the bachelorette!!!! So happy for you babe!!! ????," while Julianne Hough commented, "Yesssss congratulations darling ??."

Although they have yet to disclose how they met and when they first became an item, Roberts and John went public with their relationship in August 2022, following her split from Hedlund in January 2022. The ex-flames maintain a co-parenting relationship with their son Rhodes.
Aside from the occasional sweet social media tribute, Roberts and John have kept their coupling largely under wraps. They did, however, step out together at Coachella in 2023 and Paris Fashion Week in March.
Roberts also gave a rare glimpse into their relationship while speaking with People in July, in which she shared a relatable moment they had while watching The Iron Claw.
“I watched the movie The Iron Claw with my boyfriend, and the two of us were sobbing,” she told the publication. “It was just a disaster of crying and then laughing at each other for crying, which made us cry even harder.”
