Emma Slater Taken to Hospital With Injured Ankle After Rehearsing for ‘Dancing With the Stars’
Emma Slater is recuperating after suffering an injury to her ankle while rehearsing for Dancing With the Stars.
“So this happened today,” Slater, 35, began in an Instagram Story video posted on Monday, October 15, before flipping the camera around to show her foot, taped and propped up on a pillow. “That’s my left ankle.”
“I was rehearsing,” she continued. “It’s camera blocking day for week 5. And I just came out of, like, a lift trick, I thought it was OK, but I obviously didn’t come out great because my foot hit the floor and then just did that whole rollover thing.”
Slater explained that the injury was caught on camera because they were filming the rehearsal for social media. “Apparently this video is gnarly,” she noted.
Emma Slater Says Being ‘DWTS’ Partners With Reginald VelJohnson Is ‘Exactly’ What She Needs
Slater also shared a series of photos of her from the hospital in a separate Instagram post on Monday. In one pic, Slater gave a thumbs up for the camera as she sat on a hospital bed and held her phone up to her ear.
“Today threw a little curve ball at me but got looked after by some special people. On the phone to my mum and dad letting them know I’m OK,” Slater wrote. “All is good, will be back soon ?????????.”
In another image, fellow DWTS pro Britt Stewart posed with Slater for a hospital room selfie. “@brittbenae thanks for these #memories!” Slater wrote. “Thought I was gunna be cutting a rug with my fellow #eliminated pros but sadly I got #eliminated from that crew too so I think I’ll go join @thereginaldveljohnson and just sit on the couch for a bit ??????.”
Slater’s DWTS season 33 partner, Reginald VelJohnson, commented on the upload, “??????, speedy recovery Emma ??????.”
Emma Slater Says She Cried When She Met New ‘DWTS’ Partner Reginald VelJohnson: ‘Such a Fan’
Slater’s injury comes less than one week after she and VelJohnson were eliminated from the competition. (Stewart and her partner, Eric Roberts, were also sent home in a double elimination during last week’s episode.)
Ahead of their exit from the series, Slater gushed over her partnership with VelJohnson. “I couldn’t help but cry a little bit when I saw him,” Slater exclusively told Us Weekly in September, after this season’s cast was announced. “Because I’m such a fan and I have watched Die Hard every year … honestly, [for] decades now.”
When it came time to be formally introduced to Slater, VelJohnson had a sweet reaction. “I just looked at her face, [and] fell in love,” he told Us. “She’s wonderful.”
