Emma Stone Has Been Hiding a Major Hair Transformation & Fans Know Why
By now, we all know that Emma Stone‘s partnership with director Yorgos Lanthimos makes for movie magic. From Poor Things and The Favourite to their latest release, Kinds of Kindness, it’s no secret that the actress-director duo is a recipe for success in Hollywood, leading to critical acclaim and even some Oscars too!
So, of course, it’s perhaps no surprise that Stone’s willing to go to extreme lengths for a Lanthimos movie. In fact, over the summer, Stone committed to one of her biggest physical transformations for a role yet: she reportedly shaved her head!

As confirmed by new pictures of her in a beanie walking around in NYC, and her appearance at the New York Film Festival on Oct. 5 where she was visibly wearing a wig, Stone officially said goodbye to her long locks for her role in Lanthimos’ new movie, Bugonia. In one clip, for example, Stone hugs Kieran Culkin’s wife Jazz Charton, and seemingly readjusts the wig to put it back in place.
“Wow you already snagged that second Oscar, and she is going for third Oscar,” wrote one user on X. As a reminder, Stone won her second Oscar for Poor Things earlier this year. She previously won for La La Land in 2017. “Wow, Emma Stone with a shaved head for Lanthimos?” wrote another user. “That’s next-level commitment!!!”
Per IndieWire, their new movie, which was filmed in England over the summer, “follows an immature man who believes that a pharmaceutical executive is actually an alien and decides to kidnap him in order to stop an oncoming invasion.” Alongside Stone, Bugonia will also be starred by Kinds of Kindness actor Jesse Plemons.
The movie, which will be an English-language remake of the 2003 Korean cult movie Save the Green Planet!, is set to release on Nov. 7, 2025.
“We have a great relationship,” Lanthimos said of his partnership with Stone at the Cannes Film Festival, per AP. “We just love working together.”
We can’t wait to see them in action once again!
