Emma Stone Shares Strong Opinion About Taylor Swift’s Ex Joe Alwyn

Emma Stone, who is known to be a close friend of singer-songwriter Taylor Swift, recently had a lot to say about Swift's ex-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, as the two actors work together on an upcoming film.

In production notes for press for Yorgos Lanthimos' film Kinds of Kindness that referred to Stone and Alwyn as friends, the actress said of her co-star, "I love Joe," before praising his personal character. "We had to do some pretty dark stuff on this one, so it was extremely comforting to be with him because he’s one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet.”

Stone, who frequently collaborates with Lanthimos—winning an Oscar this year for her performance in his film Poor Things—also worked with Alwyn on the director's movie The Favourite, which came out in 2018. Stone played the character Abigail, while Alwyn played Masham.

At the time of filming The Favourite, Alwyn was still dating Swift, whom he was with from 2016 to early 2023. The actor is notoriously private and very little is known about his personal life, including his time dating the singer. The two attended a few public events together, such as the 2020 Golden Globes, although they didn't pose together for photos.

Since the couple's breakup and Swift's high-profile new romance with football player Travis Kelce, Alwyn has been spotted in public a few times attending industry events and has several exciting acting projects on the horizon. His new movie with Stone, Kinds of Kindness, comes out on June 21.

In Stone's case, she has reportedly been friends with Swift for years, and she even referenced one of her songs in her Academy Award acceptance speech. She also joked around about Swift at the Golden Globes, although Stone's sarcasm didn't translate that well to some people, leading her to later clarify the misunderstanding and share praise for her close friend.
