Emmy Winner Alan Rickman Dead at 69
Veteran screen and stage actor Alan Rickman, best known to American audiences for his roles as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Professor Snape in the Harry Potter film franchise, has died of cancer. He was 69.
The British thespian garnered numerous accolades during his five decades in show business, including Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG award wins for his work in HBO’s 1996 film Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny. He also received a BAFTA for his supporting role as the Sheriff of Nottingham in 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
