Emmys 2024 Poll: Who Should Win for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series?

Will The Bear star Jeremy Allen White feast on the competition once again at this year’s Emmys? Or will one of the other nominees spoil his meal?

White is the odds-on favorite among this year’s six Emmy nominees for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, after taking home the win in this category last year for playing tormented chef Carmy on Hulu’s restaurant dramedy. (He also took home the Golden Globe earlier this year.) But there are a few other selections on the menu, too, including co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, both earning nods for playing true-crime podcasters Charles and Oliver on Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. (Short has been nominated for three years straight, while Martin was also nominated in 2022.)

Larry David picked up his seventh nomination as well for playing his old curmudgeonly self on the final season of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm — though he’s yet to take home an Emmy in this category. (He actually hasn’t won an Emmy of any kind in over 30 years, since his days as a Seinfeld writer and producer.) Rounding out the field are a couple of first-time nominees: Matt Berry, for playing lustful vampire Laszlo on FX’s What We Do in the Shadows; and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, for playing headstrong teen Bear on Hulu’s Reservation Dogs.

So there are a number of tasty options in this category, as you can see — but which one would win the Emmy, if it were up to you? Vote for your favorite in the poll below, and then hit the comments to defend your pick.
