Emmys 2024 Poll: Who Should Win for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series?
The Emmy race for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series is truly an international affair this time around, with actors from the UK and Japan taking on their American counterparts for the big prize. But who should take home the gold in this Olympic year?
Thanks to FX’s sweeping epic Shōgun, two Japanese actors are enjoying their first career Emmy nominations: Tadanobu Asano, who played scruffy scoundrel Yabushige; and Takehiro Hira, as scheming lord Ishido. Two British actors are in the mix, as well: Jonathan Pryce, for playing Prince Philip on Netflix’s royal drama The Crown; and Jack Lowden, as spy River Cartwright on Apple TV+’s Slow Horses. (Coincidentally, Pryce is also nominated this year for his guest role on Slow Horses, playing the grandfather of Lowden’s character.)

The good old USA still has three contenders in the running, though, and they all hail from Apple TV+’s The Morning Show. Billy Crudup, who won this award in 2020, is back for the third time as network executive Cory Ellison, and Mark Duplass earned his second nomination as TV producer Chip Black. Joining them is Jon Hamm, who earned an Emmy in 2015 as Mad Men’s Don Draper and returns here as tech billionaire Paul Marks.
So this category is clearly a global event this year — but which one would you hand the Emmy to, if it were up to you? Vote for your favorite in the poll below, and then hit the comments to defend your pick.
