Eugene and Dan Levy to host Emmys
It’s official: the Emmys will go up “Schitt’s Creek” again.
Father and son duo Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will host the 76th annual Emmy Awards on ABC, the network announced early Friday morning. This is the first time a father and son have hosted the Emmys. (The Levys and their “Schitt’s Creek” costars and fellow Emmy winners Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy reunited at the 2021 Emmys to present Best Comedy Writing.)

“For two Canadians who won our Emmys in a literal quarantine tent, the idea of being asked to host this year in an actual theater was incentive enough,” said Eugene and Dan. “We’re thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television and can’t wait to spend the evening with you all on September 15.”
“We are thrilled to welcome two generations of comedy genius to the Emmys stage as hosts,” said the television academy’s chair, Cris Abrego. “Eugene and Dan Levy are known for creating unforgettable laugh-out-loud moments on screen, and together, they are super-charged. I cannot wait for Emmy fans to see what they have in store for all of us.”
“Eugene and Dan Levy created two of the most iconic TV characters in recent history and are a perfect fit to host television’s biggest night,” said Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay for Jesse Collins Entertainment, the 2024 Emmy production company. “We look forward to the audience having an unforgettable experience with this dynamic duo.”
The Levys won several Emmys in 2020 as part of the “Schitt’s Creek” sweep, including Best Comedy Actor (Eugene), Best Comedy Supporting Actor (Dan), Best Comedy Directing (Dan), Best Comedy Writing (Dan), and Best Comedy Series (both as executive producers). Eugene is back among the Emmy nominees this year for his nonfiction series, “The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy.” The elder Levy is also part of the Disney family with a guest appearance on the upcoming season of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” where he plays a version of himself, who stars as Charles Haden-Savage (Steve Martin) in a movie based on the podcast within the show universe.
The 2024 Emmys will air live from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live on ABC on September 15, beginning at 8 p.m. ET. (The show will be available to stream the following day on Hulu but by then, most people will already know the winners and have seen the best moments on social media.)
