Emmys: Which ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’ star will become the 14th actor to win for a Ryan Murphy show?
Ryan Murphy has become the go-to person for actors who want to win Emmy Awards. In fact, 13 different performers have won Emmys for appearing in a Murphy production since 2010, for roles that are both humorous and monstrous. Starting with “Glee,” more than 40 actors have been recognized with a nomination by the TV academy, mostly in the limited series/movie categories. It’s no surprise Murphy’s name is typically heard at least once or twice per Emmy broadcast, whether in speeches thanking him or for nominations of his own for directing, producing and writing.

At the current 2024 Emmys, four performers are recognized for their work on FX’s “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans”: Tom Hollander, Naomi Watts, Treat Williams and Diane Lane. Will any of them become the 14th person added to the list?

SEEEmmys: 4 reasons why Tom Hollander will beat the odds and win for ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’
For Best Movie/Limited Actor, Tom Hollander undergoes a complete physical transformation as Truman Capote, the famed American author who upsets his real-life circle of friends when he writes about them in a negative light. This marks the actor’s first career Emmy nomination. Hollander’s co-nominees this year are Richard Gadd (“Baby Reindeer”), Andrew Scott (“Ripley”), Jon Hamm (“Fargo”) and Matt Bomer (“Fellow Travelers”).
For Best Movie/Limited Actress, Naomi Watts portrays Babe Paley, an editor and socialite who completely disowns Truman once he uses her life for magazine fodder. Prior to this first-ever Emmy bid, the actress nabbed a pair of Oscar noms for “The Impossible” (2012) and “21 Grams” (2003). Watts is competing at the Emmys against Jodie Foster (“True Detective: Night Country”), Brie Larson (“Lessons in Chemistry”), Juno Temple (“Fargo”) and Sofia Vergara (“Griselda”).
For Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actor, Treat Williams inhabits the look and personality of Bill Paley, the iconic businessman who helped transform CBS from a radio network to a TV station. Sadly, Williams passed away in a motorcycle crash in 2023 at the age of 71. His only prior Emmy bid was for “The Late Shift” (1996). The other nominees are Jonathan Bailey (“Fellow Travelers”), Robert Downey Jr. (“The Sympathizer”), Tom Goodman-Hill (“Baby Reindeer”), John Hawkes (“True Detective: Night Country”), Lewis Pullman (“Lessons in Chemistry”) and Lamorne Morris (“Fargo”).
For Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actress, Diane Lane takes on the role of Nancy “Slim” Keith, a socialite and fashion icon who was one of Truman’s many “Swans.” Her two prior Emmy noms were for “Lonesome Dove” (1989) and “Cinema Verite” (2011), and Lane is also a one-time Oscar nominee for “Unfaithful” (2002). Also nominated this year are Jessica Gunning (“Baby Reindeer”), Kali Reis (“True Detective: Night Country”), Nava Mau (“Baby Reindeer”), Aja Naomi King (“Lessons in Chemistry”), Lily Gladstone (“Under the Bridge”) and Dakota Fanning (“Ripley”).
