'It's endless with these morons': Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kathy Griffin, others react to Melania Trump's 'I really don't care' message
Melania Trump’s choice in outerwear for Thursday’s trip to a Texas detention center housing immigrant children was questionable. While her team first brushed off the green military-style jacket with “I really don’t care, do u?” on the back as “just a jacket” with “no hidden message,” President Trump later said it was a message. Not for the poor kids who had been torn away from their parents, but for the “fake news” media, his go-to line when he can’t come up with something better to say. Le sigh.
Needless to say, there’s a lot of outrage over the jacket, a planned distraction from the status of these more than 2,000 kids who were ripped apart from their families with no firm plans of reuniting them, and the administration in general. Trump’s favorite comedian, Kathy Griffin, was leading the charge, calling the Trumps “liars and criminals” — and there were a lot of others, like Judd Apatow, in her camp (“Nobody could dream them up in their worst nightmares”).
The jacket Melanie wore on the way to meeting the kids held in internment camps has “I don’t really care, do you?” written on the back.
Fuck these people and fuck anyone who says we should be polite to them or maintain decorum. pic.twitter.com/Velfj2Nr4j

You and your entire family are liars and criminals. https://t.co/SfjXLLbe2J

The hypocrisy of @FLOTUS going down to the border to speak broken English to our refugees in that dumb jacket is a little hard to swallow. For all the trump supporters who defend her by saying she speaks five languages—English isn’t one of them.

These people are beyond fiction. Nobody could dream them up in their worst nightmares. Now imagine supporting them so you could turn your fifty billion into 70 billion. How much can anyone spend? How can someone like Murdoch, so close to the end, not care about people? https://t.co/5wFjpf7XRy

No message? The jacket literally has a message on it. How does no one running this country understand the meaning of optics. Jesus! https://t.co/thBD9XxxCb

Melania Trump just won worst dressed for the century.

You know what? I *am* going to be distracted by Melania’s fucking jacket. Whatever’s going on with her is really bad; if you hate your husband that much, leave him. If you hate your adopted country, you can leave that, too.

Dear @POTUS & @FLOTUS
I’m getting a raincoat that says:
“Stvarno me ne zanima
jebi se”
It’s Slovenian for:

fuck you”— Ken Olin (@kenolin1) June 22, 2018
Actress Diane Kruger, who celebrated becoming a citizen in 2013, blasted the “shameful leadership” of the Trump administration. “This is despicable and cowardly and above all shameful.”

Wow, she’s really starting to seem like the kind of person who would marry Donald Trump. pic.twitter.com/LI6ZIjMEaT

Even the Fonz was unimpressed.
BUT , you have to admit someone who cares or watches out for @FLOTUS should have said “ not a thoughtful fashion choice” https://t.co/uNIKd9c5Se

Actress Busy Philipps hated the first lady’s “not caring” message.
Also. Fuck the message that NOT CARING is somehow "cool" or "on trend". I care so much and so deeply about so many things sometimes it physically hurts. That's what it means to be an empathetic human.

The Donald wasn’t the only one downplaying the drama. His son Don Jr. posted a photo of the jacket with a makeover, showing Trump critic Robert De Niro crying on the back.
It really is hard not to want to cry over all of this.
