The Equalizer Season 5 Ordered at CBS
Ahead of its Season 4 finale this May, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that CBS has officially ordered The Equalizer Season 5 renewal for its Queen Latifah-led crime drama. The new season is expected to debut during the network’s 2024-2025 broadcast season.
This comes after several months since Denzel Washington returned for another installment to his The Equalizer film franchise. Just like the CBS drama, the films were also inspired by 1980s thriller series of the same name.
“The Equalizer, led by the incomparable Queen Latifah, has all the best elements of a powerful drama,” CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach said in a statement. “The series is stacked with suspense, heroism, high stakes and formidable characters our audience roots for. We look forward to another dynamic season.”
Who’s involved in The Equalizer?
The Equalizer is executive produced by showrunners Joseph C. Wilson and Adam Glass. In addition to Latifah, the series also stars Lorraine Toussaint, Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira and Laya DeLeon Hayes. It is executive produced by Andrew Marlowe, Terri Edda Miller, Dana Owens (Queen Latifah), John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, original series creator Richard Lindheim, Shakim Compere, Joseph C. Wilson, and Loretha Jones.
“The series follows Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills as a former CIA operative to help those with nowhere else to turn,” reads the logline.
