Erie Playhouse preparing 'soaring tales,' 'epic adventures' for 2025 season on stage
"Soaring tales" and "epic adventures" is how Erie Playhouse officials described the shows coming to the downtown theater in 2025.
The 2025 season at the Playhouse, 13 W. 10th St., was announced Sunday at a launch party.
"Each year, our team works hard to put together a slate of productions and programming to showcase the incredible talent in our community, and that we know our audiences will love,” Zach Flock, Erie Playhouse executive director, said in a news release. "The 2025 season, called our 'Season of Soaring Tales and Epic Adventures,' is going to blow audiences away, and we can’t wait to see everyone at the Playhouse.”
The lineup includes an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical spectacular, a timeless Tony Award-winner and what officials called a "massively popular musical" that won't be announced until a later date. Here's what you have to look forward to:
Erie Playhouse 2025 season
"Waitress": Jan. 24-Feb. 9. This Tony-nominated smash hit features memorable music and lyrics by Grammy Award-winner Sara Bareilles.
"Pete the Cat": March 7-16. The Playhouse's Youtheatre will present this hilarious, toe-tapping musical based on the hit children’s series featuring Pete, the groovy, guitar-playing cat.
"The Prince of Egypt": March 28-April 13. This will mark the northwest Pennsylvania premiere of this epic musical of brotherhood, emotion and breathtaking dance from multi-Grammy and Academy Award-winner and "Wicked"composer Stephen Schwartz.
2024 season: From 'Tootsie' to 'Beauty and the Beast,' Erie Playhouse plans variety
"The Phantom Tollbooth": May 9-18. Another Youtheatre production, this modern tale of a boy who must save the princesses Rhyme and Reason and reunite the brother kings who rule over the cities of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis was adapted for the stage from Norton Juster’s beloved children’s book.
"The Da Vinci Code": June 13-29. Based on Dan Brown's bestselling novel, this international phenomenon will also be making its northwest Pennsylvania premiere.
"Cats": July 25-Aug. 17. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s record-breaking musical spectacular that has captivated audiences worldwide will return to the Playhouse stage.
"My Fair Lady": Sept. 12-28. Based on "Pygmalion" by George Bernard Shaw, this timeless Tony Award-winning musical returns to the Playhouse stage.
"The Elephant Man": Oct. 10-26. This Tony-winning drama is based on the life of John Merrick, the victim of a rare skin and bone disease that made him known for the extreme deformity of his body.
"Emma! A Pop Musical": Nov. 7-16. This show combines Jane Austen's classic novel with the hit songs of legendary girl groups and iconic female singers.
To be announced: One mainstage production that will be an Erie Playhouse premiere of a "massively popular musical."

Current season ticket holders were able to renew following the Launch Party. Regular season tickets will be available for purchase to the general public beginning Sept. 17. For each individual production, tickets will go on sale three to four weeks before shows open.
