Erika Alexander And Queen Latifah’s Surprise ‘Living Single’ Reunion Unlocks A Hilarious Memory
Seeing Queen Latifah surprise Erika Alexander on The Drew Barrymore Show was priceless. During Alexander’s American Fiction press run, she appeared on the Barrymore’s talk show. Though the latter typically ends her show with a segment titled “Final Five,” she placed it in the middle of the show to shock Alexander with an impromptu Living Single reunion.
Alexander practically fell out of her seat when Queen Latifah popped up on the screen. “Hey Erika. Surprise! It’s Dana! Queen Latifah to everyone else,” quipped the rapper. Notably, Latifah starred as Khadijah James on the hit series while Alexander starred alongside her as the infamous Maxine Shaw, Attorney At Law.
The rom-com queen went onto ask her former co-star five unconventional questions, which led to them slipping some tea about their time on set.
When asked about a memorable behind-the-scenes moment, Alexander’s answer was hilarious and relatable. “We used to have so much fun and we would undress in front of each other and compare breasts,” she said as she chuckled at the reflection. “And I had the smallest in there, which is saying something, because they were some big begonias going all around.”
She praised their moments of body positivity, adding that she loved that they shared that and were able to “really cheer each other on.” Continuing, “To actually go and have our first person that saw us in wardrobe go, ‘Look at that! Look at how they’re sitting up, those are fine.’ We gave ourselves a lot of encouragement. So, yes, I remember that a lot. A lot of body positivity.”
The reunion was an emotional one, considering the women hadn’t seen each other for quite some time. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen her. I love her,” said Alexander as she wiped away tears. “Congratulations on The Equalizer, she’s a mommy now, everything.”
Here’s to hoping that this moment sparks a proper celebratory sit-down with the rest of the cast as done in recent years with the casts of Martin and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
