Who Is Ethan Suplee's Wife? All About Brandy Lewis
Ethan Suplee and Brandy Lewis have been married since 2006
My Name Is Earl star Ethan Suplee has said that he’s “married to the girl of my dreams.”
He met his wife, Brandy Lewis, when they were teens, and the pair eventually fell in love. Lewis even inspired him to make a big lifestyle change, as the actor lost more than 250 pounds last year.
Today, the pair are happily married parents to four daughters and grandparents to a baby girl. “I really didn’t think I’d make it out of the ‘90s, let alone to 46!” Suplee wrote on Instagram in 2022. “I’m married to the girl of my dreams. I have 4 amazing children who impress me everyday [sic]. We got to watch one of them graduate from college today! Neither my wife or I finished high school and our jaws are relentlessly agape at how smart and able our children are.”
The actor also credits his wife with giving him a renewed outlook on life. “Before I met my wife, the future wasn’t something I ever thought about,” he shared in 2021. “I’m so glad that life is something I look forward to now, every single day.”
Here’s everything to know about Brandy Lewis, founder and CEO of the art company Makers Mess, mother of four and wife of actor Ethan Suplee.
She’s from California
Lewis was born in Los Angeles in 1975, and she once told Voyage LA that she began her career managing actors and musicians before later moving into the art world.
Her initial career choice made sense, given her close family ties to Hollywood. Her father, Geoffrey Lewis, was an actor, and her sister Juliette would grow up to be an Oscar-nominated actress.
Juliette Lewis is her sister
Lewis is the younger sister of Yellowjackets star Juliette Lewis.
Though she may not appear in front of the camera like her big sister, Lewis did work as her sibling’s assistant on her movies The Other Sister and The Evening Star.
The sisters appear to be close, as Juliette frequently appears in Suplee and Lewis’ Instagram photos and videos — including hitting the gym as a family.
“You taught me not only to face fear but to control it by provoking it,” Lewis wrote in a birthday tribute to her older sister in 2021. “And you learned how to be brave by pretending to me you were.”
Suplee and Lewis met when they were teens
Suplee and Lewis met as teenagers and were "very, very, very close friends," according to Suplee.
He told PEOPLE that he had a crush on his future wife, but the feelings weren’t reciprocated then. "I was utterly in love with her, and she was, like, not totally into me," he shared.
They reconnected in 2001, when Suplee said a “miraculous thing” happened to him.
"For the very first time, I wasn't getting a deep concern from somebody about my health and I felt totally accepted for who I was versus what I looked like," he explained. "And that I think was kind of the bedrock that I was successful with my goals at."
She inspired Suplee to lose weight
The Remember the Titans actor credited his future wife with inspiring him to lose weight.
Shortly after the pair started dating in 2002, Suplee decided to make a change in his life. "I became, for the first time in my life, kind of interested in the future and having experiences with her," he told PEOPLE. "Like spending a day walking around a museum or going on a trip or hiking that I just wasn't physically able to do."
The actor eventually lost about 250 pounds and the accomplishment made him proud, though he doesn’t credit his weight loss as the key to happiness.
"I cannot say that actually losing weight has made me happier. I don't think that's true," he shared. "I just think that achieving something I set out to achieve has given me this volume of happiness that is pretty great."
They married in 2006
The friends-turned-lovers tied the knot in 2006, and Lewis’ impact on Suplee’s journey has been undeniable.
“I don’t want to say she saved my life. I didn’t care about my life prior to her,” the actor told the Inside of You podcast in 2021. “My life meant very little to me prior to her. Once I started seeing her ... it was the very first time I started thinking about the future. That was really how I clawed my way out of this pit ... looking up and seeing the light.”
She started an art studio and agency
In 2015, Lewis founded Makers Mess, “an art studio and creative agency" that offered art and design classes for companies, adults, and children.
The seeds for what would become Makers Mess were planted shortly after Lewis’ father died in 2015. As she worked through her emotions, she found that art and creativity were a helpful way to help navigate her grief. “I realized the only time I felt any relief were the three hours a week I sat in a creative writing class,” Lewis explained to Voyage LA in 2021. “I wanted four walls wherein people could practice what really mattered in this world — being creative, without any emphasis on talent or perfection or anything else.”
Lewis’s creative approach, which guided Makers Mess, is that things don’t have to be perfect. "Makers Mess perfectly described the environment I wanted to make. And then came the unexpected gift of being able to support all these creatives from different fields all over the world,” she shared. “One day I realized [that] however far I thought I wanted to get from the entertainment business, I still ended up in the same field of supporting artists.”
She’s a mother of four
Lewis has four children: her elder daughters Lily and Bella were from a previous relationship, and she and Suplee welcomed daughters Frances Clementine and Billie Grace in 2005 and 2007, respectively.
Lewis and Suplee are also grandparents to a baby girl. “We have the cutest granddaughter on earth and we weep with joy when we talk about her,” Suplee wrote on Instagram in 2022.
