Eva LaRue Says She ‘Couldn’t Be More Different’ From GH’s Natalia
When Eva LaRue joined General Hospital earlier this year as Natalia, Port Charles was not prepared for the havoc she would cause and the homophobia she would sling Blaze and Kristina’s way. On her State of Mind debut, the actress delved into what it’s been like playing a bigoted character.
Different And Defensive
“She couldn’t be more different from me, that’s for sure,” LaRue admitted to podcast host and GH co-star Maurice Benard. “They’re beautiful individuals and souls, and I have always thought that,” she continued about the LGBTQ+ community. On Natalia, LaRue went on to say, “She’s so defensive over her bigotry, which is really tough.”
“It’s tough playing your character,” Benard agreed. “But you got to do the role and if they give you the lines, you got to say the lines.”
More Sonny And Natalia To Come
Sonny and Natalia instantly hit it off when they met, and have gone on to have several heart-to-hearts about parenting. Sonny went as far as to invite Natalia to Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton), and cozied up to Natalia over drinks at his penthouse, leaving Ava (Maura West) in the dust.
“He doesn’t like it, but maybe Sonny feels like he could change you,” Benard spoke about their characters’ relationship. “I can get her to see the other side,” he continued about Sonny. “Our relationship is sweet.”
“I thought your reaction to what happened the other day — which no one’s seen yet, or whatever — was so interesting. It wasn’t forgiving, but it wasn’t a hard line against Natalia,” LaRue said about an upcoming scene.
“It has been so much fun working with you,” LaRue revealed to Benard. “It’s been the highlight part of this very troubled character that I am.”
