Evan Peters and Ryan Murphy to Reunite for FX’s ‘Beauty,’ Co-Starring Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope

Evan Peters and Ryan Murphy are returning to FX together, with the network giving out a series order to the drama “The Beauty.”

Peters will star in “The Beauty” with Murphy serving as co-creator. Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope will also star in the show, which is based on the Image Comics series of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. Matthew Hodgson is also a co-creator on the series. Production is slated to begin this fall, with FX ordering 11 episodes. Exact plot and character details are being kept under wraps, but the description of the comic books states, “Modern society is obsessed with outward beauty. What if there was a way to guarantee you could become more and more beautiful every day? What if it was a sexually transmitted disease? In the world of ‘The Beauty,’ physical perfection is attainable. The vast majority of the population has taken advantage of it, but Detectives Foster and Vaughn will soon discover it comes at a terrible price.”

Peters and Murphy are frequent collaborators, with Peters having appeared in nine installments of Murphy’s FX series “American Horror Story,” while he also received a producer credit for a tenth. Peters also appeared in the first season of the FX series “Pose,” which Murphy also co-created. Most recently, Peters starred in the Netflix series “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” which Murphy co-created with Ian Brennan. Peters won a Golden Globe for the show and received an Emmy nomination. It currently ranks as the third most-watched show in Netflix history.

Peters won an Emmy for the HBO series “Mare of Easttown” and has also appeared in shows like “WandaVision.” In film, he is known for playing Quicksilver in the “X-Men” franchise as well as for features like “The Lazarus Effect,” “I Am Woman,” and “Elvis and Nixon.”

Hodgson has also worked with Murphy across multiple shows, specifically “Glee,” “American Horror Stories,” “9-1-1,” and “Aaron Hernandez: American Sports Story.” He is repped by Lit Entertainment Group.

Ramos is perhaps best known for originating the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the smash hit Broadway musical “Hamilton.” He received an Emmy nomination for the 2020 stage recording that aired on Disney+. Most recently, he starred in the summer blockbuster “Twisters” alongside Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar Jones. His other film credits include “A Star Is Born,” “In the Heights,” and “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.”

He is repped by CAA, Door 24, Laffitte Mangement Group and attorney Erik Hyman of Paul Hastings.

Pope previously starred in “Pose” as well as Murphy’s Netflix series “Hollywood,” the latter of which earned him an Emmy nomination for best actor in a limited series. He has starred in films like “One Night in Miami” and “The Inspection,” with “The Inspection” earning him a Golden Globe nomination. Pope previously received Tony Award nominations for both “Choir Boy” and “Ain’t Too Proud.”

Kutcher is best known for his starring role in the Fox comedy series “That 70’s Show,” appearing in the show for eight seasons. He has also starred in shows like “The Ranch” at Netflix and “Two and a Half Men” at CBS following the exit of Charlie Sheen. He also famously co-created the popular MTV series “Punk’d.” Kutcher has starred in films like “Dude, Where’s My Car,” “What Happens in Vegas,” “No Strings Attached,” and “Vengeance.”

“The Beauty” announcement comes as Murphy has a large number of shows either already airing or in the works. In the past few weeks, he has launched the shows “Grotesquerie” and “Aaron Hernandez: American Sports Story” at FX, “Doctor Odyssey” at ABC, and Season 2 of “Monster” at Netflix on top of new seasons of “9-1-1” and “9-1-1: Lone Star” at ABC and Fox, respectively. He is also prepping the legal drama “All’s Fair” and the comedy “Mid-Century Modern” at Hulu on top of several other projects.
