Evangeline Lilly Explained Why She's Quitting Acting
Evangeline Lilly has announced her retirement from acting.
The Ant-Man actor, now 44, began acting in 2002. Her breakthrough role came two years later when she landed the role of Kate in the television series Lost.
However, her time in the public eye has been controversial. Lilly made headlines in 2020 for refusing to social distance or quarantine at the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. She attracted further attention in 2022 for posting about her support of an anti-vax rally, which also had members of the white nationalist group the Proud Boys in attendance.
Lilly recently took to her Instagram to share an interview of hers from 2006, when she was asked where she would like to be in a decade. "I am terrified to admit this to the rest of the acting world, but ideally, 10 years from now, I'd like to be a retired actress. I'd like to have a family, and I'd like to be writing."
In the caption, the Lilly of the present day added, "I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings. Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment."
"I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong. A new season has arrived, and I AM READY...and I AM HAPPY," she concluded.
According to IMDb, Evangeline may still appear in an upcoming movie called Happy Life with Ike Barinholtz.
