Everett’s Flip To The Dark Side On DAYS Could Really Mean This
On the April 24 episode of Days of Our Lives, Everett’s behavior appeared to have completely changed. He seemed blasé about the divorce papers, blew off Stephanie, and responded to a previous identity. His evil gaze indicated that something sinister was going on in his mind.
Only Stephanie Noticed the Change
On her way to have lunch with Tripp (Lucas Adams), Stephanie (Abigail Klein) bumped into Jada (Elia Cantu) and told her she was trying to reach her because Everett (Blake Berris) signed the divorce papers, making Jada ecstatic. Stephanie confirmed that she witnessed him signing them as Robert Stein, and admitted that she talked him into it.
Meanwhile, Everett was in his hotel room drinking alone and staring at the papers. He then casually tossed them onto the floor. Later, he happened to be walking where Stephanie and Jada were talking, and clearly seemed off, looking at Jada with a goofy grin. He said it was good to see her and threw Stephanie a quick, “Hey.”
When he stated that he was grabbing a coffee, Jada said, “Let me guess, light roast with a splash of oat milk. Right, Bobby?” He didn’t flinch and told her she had a good memory. Jada asked if he could give her the papers, but he didn’t have them with him and said he’d get them to her later. Stephanie told Jada that Everett seemed distant, but before she could elaborate they got interrupted by Tripp.
Everett sat in the pub with an evil glint in his eyes and talked to himself as he tried to figure out which article to write: either about the snowstorm or a piece on Officer Goldman (Christy St. John) who lived two separate lives. He ultimately chose the snowstorm. When Stephanie and Tripp entered the pub, he appeared happy to see them, asked Tripp how he was doing, and offered to write an article about his and Wendy’s experience being kidnapped. Tripp declined, while Stephanie didn’t say anything and walked away leaving Everett looking confused.
After her lunch with Tripp, Steph approached Everett and asked him why he ignored her outside and was friendly to her when she came in. With a strange smirk, he claimed he didn’t know he did that, and said he was probably distracted. She said he was avoiding Jada, and asked why he didn’t give her the divorce papers. He abruptly excused himself and exited, leaving a confused Stephanie stunned.
Everett returned home and picked the divorce papers up when Rafe and Jada showed up looking for them. With a strange demeanor, he let them in and handed the papers over. Rafe said to him, “You did the right thing, Everett…or Bobby, or whatever it is you’re going by these days.” Everett had a goofy stare and didn’t respond when Jada thanked him and she and Rafe left.
He then started staring at a photo of him and Jada from the past on his phone and had an evil look on his face.
The fact that Everett responded when Jada called him Bobby could indicate he has Dissociative Identity Disorder — aka DID — a split personality. It could also explain why he subconsciously didn’t want to sign the divorce papers as Bobby in the first place. Right from the beginning of the episode, ominous music played in the background, which obviously indicated that something wasn’t right with him. Throughout the show, he had various, weird facial expressions, almost appearing aloof and amused by what was happening around him. And, his choosing to not write about Goldman’s double lives may have indicated that the topic hit too close to home.
Time will tell whether or not he’s suffering from DID, or something far worse.
Pop Culture Reference of the Day
The April 24 episode of DAYS had three obscure references: When Stefan saw Ava seated in the Bistro, he said, “Of all the gin joints, huh?” That, of course, was a reference to what Humphrey Bogart’s character Rick stated in Casablanca, “Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.”
In the same scene, but at another table, Jada motioned to Harris and Ava and said to Rafe, “So what do you think of the Odd Couple showing up here for lunch?” The Odd Couple was a Neil Simon play, famously adapted to film in 1968, starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau as neat freak Felix Unger and slob Oscar Madison, respectively. They’re divorced and end up living together, but drive each other crazy. It was later developed into a hilarious TV sitcom in 1970 and starred Tony Randall and Jack Klugman in the iconic roles.
The last one was when Harris referred to Morton’s Fork, and clarified it for Ava, saying, “It means both choices are equally bad.” Not a pop culture reference, but definitely an obscure one.
