'Everything is a work of art': Marc Jacobs shares NYC townhouse on 'Million Dollar Listing'

Marc Jacobs may be known for styling the runway, but his taste in interior design is also haute.

The fashion designer's townhouse in New York City was featured in a Thursday episode of Bravo's "Million Dollar Listing." His luxury candle making husband Charly Defrancesco gave real estate broker Ryan Serhant a look at the almost 5000 square feet digs the couple shares.

Jacobs' home is all about the minerals: The bedroom ceiling and powder room features 18 karat yellow gold leafing, a fireplace in the living room is made out of mica stone and the kitchen is complete with a glossy brown marble.

"Everything is a work of art," Defrancesco said. "Everything was a considered decision, every doorknob, every light switch … you name it."

Hardware for the home's vintage gold doorknobs amounted to $3,000 per door. Gold Meljac light switches adorn the hallway amounting to $300 each, which Defrancesco said were installed because they reminded Jacobs of his childhood home.

The master bedroom has it's own floor complete with a custom-built mahogany walk in closet and a bathroom with floor to ceiling Emperador marble.

Jacobs said he wanted his four-story townhouse to be full of things he loved when the space was featured in Architectural Digest in 2017.

“I just want to live with things I genuinely love—great Art Deco furniture, pieces from the ’70s, and contemporary art," Jacobs said of his townhome in an interview with Architectural Digest in 2017. "But I didn’t want the house to feel like a pristine gallery or a Deco stage set—just something smart, sharp, and comfortable.”

Many of the pieces of art and furniture the designer loved were not featured on "Million Dollar Listing." Defrancesco said they auctioned most of it off because the couple has a house in Westchester, New York — about an hour away from the city.

After their Chipotle flashmob engagement, Jacobs and Defrancesco said "I do" in 2019 in an intimate ceremony surrounded by friends and celebrity guests like Naomi Campbell, Rita Ora, Christina Ricci, rapper Lil' Kim and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

Jacobs also took to his personal Instagram account to showcase his gold wedding band, as well as something new from his special day.

"God is in the details. One of the pair of Art Deco Diamond and Onyx Penguins. An extraordinary beautiful and thoughtful gift to us by the amazing, lovely and generous @zambishot," he captioned the picture. "Penguins have only one partner and mate for life. A great example of faithfulness and fidelity. So grateful to you and love you so much dear Fabio."
