As the 2024 TV schedule appears in the horizon, there’s going to be plenty of new and exciting options to keep an eye out for in various streaming platforms. Those of you with a Hulu subscription know that first hand, as every month tends to bring a slew of fresh entertainment options.

But keeping track of those Hulu new releases can be a bit taxing, especially when trying to keep straight the titles that are already online and what’s coming soon. And from the looks of how September 2024 begins on the platform, it looks like it’s time to go back to school!

At least, that seems to be the case with movies like Mean Girls and Jennifer’s Body being introduced to the Hulu lineup. Also the world of TV is about to get a little more exciting too, as shows like The Simpsons Season 36 to 9-1-1 Season 8 are about to return; while fresh faced titles like the FX drama American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez will be taking the field for the first time

Here are the Hulu titles that will see you in September 2024! But before we go too far, don’t forget to check up on what may have been added later in the August 2024 catalog. Titles like Searchlight Pictures’ Kinds of Kindness are waiting for your eager eyes to feast upon them. And now, our feature presentation.

Everyone's favorite residents of the Arconia are back, as Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez return for the start of Only Murders in the Building Season 4! With a major motion picture adapting their adventures thus far, mystery isn't the only complication that looks to be getting in the way of our friends and their efforts to crack the case at hand.

Last, but not least, Hulu's August 2024 update will include the debut of After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun. As teased recently by Carmen Electra's reunion post, cast members from throughout the legacy action/drama's run will be on hand to frankly discuss their time on the series, and the effect it had on their careers.

New On Hulu Week Of September 1: High School Musical, Mean Girls, Jennifer’s Body, And More

Troy and Gabriella High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
Troy and Gabriella High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

Whether you’re going back to school, or merely having flashbacks to when September meant a new year of academics, Hulu has movies that play to that experience. And it’s a pretty broad spectrum too, as two of the High School Musical films are coming online for the younger folks, with Jennifer’s Body being available for the adults. And please, if you have theories supporting or debunking Sharpay as the true HSM hero, let these additions to the library help you form those theories.

But of course, the 20th anniversary of the O.G. Mean Girls is the perfect occasion to bring the Lindsay Lohan original back to streaming. While we can debate how good the musical remake from earlier in 2024 actually was, there’s no question that this Tina Fey-written classic is something pop culture still sees as totally fetch.

New On Hulu Week Of September 8: Boy Kills World, How To Die Alone: Series Premiere, And More

Bill Skarsg?rd has had a rough year. Not only is he questing for vengeance in the 2024 reimagining of The Crow, but he also previously fought for revenge in the kinetic indie action film Boy Kills World. If you like your action carnage in the style of an ‘80s beat-em-up video game, this is definitely something you’re going to want to put on your calendar.

That being said, if life affirming comedy is more your speed, then Hulu has another prime option for you to enjoy in this week’s crop. Insecure and Sonic the Hedgehog star Natasha Rothwell leads the series How to Die Alone, which will have its series premiere this very week.

As an airport employee who, after a near death experience, decides to live a lot more than she previously had, Rothwell’s comedic charms look to be balanced by a kind, dramatic sweetness. Which means that this series just might become the next streaming hit, as it would pair well with more intense experiences, like say FX’s The Bear.

New On Hulu Week Of September 15: The Favourite, Dancing With The Stars: Season 33 Premiere, And More

The August 2024 schedule for Hulu saw writer/director Yorgos Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness debut for streaming audiences, and the mention of this film is not by coincidence. Lanthimos’ previous Academy Award winning film The Favourite is being added in September 2024, which could make for a darkly comic double feature of the soul. Also, if you’re left wondering “who is R.M.F.?” you should read Willem Dafoe and Jesse Plemons’ attempted explanation of this Kinds of Kindness mystery.

Meanwhile, Dancing with the Stars is getting ready to start its 33rd season on Disney+. Though since that platform has merged with Hulu’s lineup for subscribers that have access to both services, you have an option as to how you enjoy this week’s live premiere event.

You could call this week of Hulu’s September 2024 calendar the First Responders Festival, as there’s quite a few procedurals making a return, or freshly debuting on the airwaves. ABC’s 9-1-1 kicks off its eighth season this week, just as the complete fifth season of Fox’s 9-1-1: Lone Star joins the ranks as well. So paramedic drama is not in short supply.

In terms of new faces however, FX’s latest Ryan Murphy produced drama Grotesquerie starts with a two-episode premiere on the broadcast network. With Niecy Nash playing the series’ lead investigator, fans of the short-lived drama The Rookie: Feds will, without question, be happy to see Ms. Nash-Betts getting back to investigative work. Not to mention Travis Kelce’s jump into “unknown territory” as an actor will be interesting to observe.

Fox doesn’t call its Sunday block “Animation Domination” for nothing, and that legendary lineup is back on the air with this week of September additions to Hulu. Season 36 of The Simpsons opens another chapter in the history of another long-running primetime TV legend, and there’s no telling how this new batch of episodes will play out for Homer, Marge, and the rest of Springfield’s model citizens.

And if you’re a Bob’s Burgers fan, Season 15 looks like it’ll see the Belcher family returning to a more consistent schedule. So for those of you who went through the rough heartbreak of waiting weeks for an episode, which was a result of 2023’s twin strike actions of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA, it looks like your patience will be rewarded.
