It can be hard to keep track of all the new and best movies on Netflix, in addition to all of the fine TV shows making their way to the platform. We’re ringing in 2024 in style, folks! Just as the old year makes way for the new, we’re seeing some wild new additions arriving in Netflix’s January 2024 new releases. Whether you’re ready to rewatch the first three John Wick movies, or if you’re ready to cry through your choice of Good Grief or the complete series of This Is Us, it’s all happening!
Though you may want to save some of those tears for other incoming titles. The fear of Train to Busan and the majesty of the Jurassic Park movies kind of inspires that sort of reaction. New On Netflix Week Of January 1: John Wick Movies, Good Grief, And More
A majority of our own Jason Wiese called “the greatest action movie franchise of all time” has arrived for Netflix subscribers. The initial trilogy of John Wick movies will be coming online for New Year’s Day 2024; which leaves fans with the potential to binge those first three chapters as a celebration of sorts.
Or, if you’ve been waiting to get your ugly crying for the new year started, then Daniel Levy will be there to greet you with sorrorful arms. As we saw in the first trailer for Good Grief, the story of Levy’s Marc mourning the loss of his husband Oliver (Luke Evans) leads to a much needed trip with some friends. It also leads to some devastating discussions, so keep that in mind when you’re enjoying the beautiful scenery.

New On Netflix Week Of January 7: This Is Us Complete Series, Lift, And More
For six seasons, NBC’s This is Us was the gold standard for emotional drama series to follow, leaving so many tear soaked weeks of joy and sorry behind in its wake. If you feel it’s been too long since you’ve met with the Pearson family, then take this week’s addition of the complete series to Netflix as a sign that you’ve come home. Just make sure you’ve addressed any potential Crock Pot situations before you do.
Action is also on its way to the Netflix library, as the original film Lift sees Kevin Hart and an all-star cast pulling off a dangerous heist. More specifically, a heist that must be executed on a 777 jet, in mid-air. I mean, if it was easy, it wouldn’t be a big ticket spectacle directed by The Italian Job and The Fate of the Furious’ F. Gary Gray, would it?

New On Netflix Week Of January 14: Cats, Love On The Spectrum U.S.: Season 2, And More
January is a month where movie fans have time to take it easy and catch up on lesser known titles and/or oddities they’re deathly curious about. As 2019’s cinematic adaptation of Cats is heading into the Netflix library this week, it feels as if the stars have aligned for you thrill seekers to ride the lightning and dive deep into an infamous disaster. Or maybe it’s a sign that warns anyone daring to lock eyes with it to look away, lest they be drawn into its inescapable gravity.
On the other hand, a brand new season of Love on the Spectrum U.S. is about to start as well! With several neurodivergent couples trying their hand at love on camera, the series is a fascinating switch from the usual dating programs you might be used to.

New On Netflix Week Of January 21: Train To Busan, Queer Eye: Season 8, And More
Originally the world of upcoming horror movies had us primed to experience the American remake of the South Korean hit Train to Busan in April 2023. Alas, for those of you who were pumped for it, that project still hasn’t happened yet. However, with the Yeon Sang-ho original making its way to Netflix, you can spend part of your January delighting in that film’s wonders instead.
For those of you who have been waiting for the return of Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot, you’re sitting on the other side of the fence known as luck. This week is Season 8’s debut, which is actually the final season that will include interior designer Bobby Berk. Who will fill his spot in the line up for future seasons doesn’t seem to be determined, but it’s going to be bittersweet to see this last batch of episodes with the original reboot crew.
