Everything We Know About Benedict's ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4 Including the Cast, Plot and Release Date

Dearest gentle reader, it is with great pleasure that I hereby announce Bridgerton season 4’s diamond of the season: Mr. Benedict Bridgerton. That’s right, fellow members of the ton, the second eldest Bridgerton brother is going to find his true love match. But when will this season begin and how does Benedict really feel about stepping into the spotlight? Well, this author found out all of that and more, so keep reading to find out.

All about ‘Bridgerton’ season 4

Season 4 of Bridgerton has been confirmed for quite a while now; however, up until Tuesday, July 24, viewers weren't sure which of the remaining Bridgerton siblings the season would follow. There were of course online rumors circulating about whether the season 4 lead would be Benedict, Eloise or maybe even Francesca, but Netflix has officially confirmed that the newest season will follow fan favorite Benedict Bridgerton.

This comes after Colin and Penelope’s swoon-worthy season 3, which was released earlier this year.

“He’s [Benedict] a charming man who’s trying to find his way,” Shonda Rhimes, the show’s executive producer, told Tudum by Netflix. “He’s very delightful and funny. I’m excited for everybody to watch him.”

Benedict Bridgerton is played by English native Luke Thompson, who echoed very similar thoughts to Rhimes, telling Tudum, Benedict has always been a little lost — or free depending on the way you want to look at it. But now he's trying to find something a bit more solid in himself.”

What will ‘Bridgerton’ season 4 be about?

Much like the show's previous seasons, season 4 will be loosely based on the book written by Julia Quinn. Benedict’s book, An Offer from a Gentleman, is a Cinderella-inspired tale that follows the second-eldest Bridgerton after he meets his dream girl at a masquerade ball. But as the night wears down, the silver-wearing beauty disappears without a trace. Now Benedict must use his mind and art skills to track her down — before it’s too late.

It is unclear if the show will follow that plot exactly, but in Netflix’s press release, the successful streamer did confirm that there will be a masquerade ball and that Benedict’s mysterious lady in silver will be in attendance.

This season will also focus on Benedict’s character growth, with Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell telling Tudum,It felt important for him [Benedict] to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down. He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode.”

“I’m excited for where we’re going with him in season 4. There are a lot of things I want to say about it, but I should probably wait.”

Aside from Thompson, it is unclear who else will be staying in London’s regency era. As of the publication date, no cast member has announced that they will be leaving or staying.

The show has also yet to announce who will be joining the cast for season 4, meaning the woman who will be playing Thompson’s love interest hasn’t been released yet.

When will ‘Bridgerton’ season 4 release?

There is no set release date for Bridgerton season 4 yet; however, the announcement of Benedict being the show's lead is a step in the right direction.

Netflix did announce, however, that there would be eight episodes of season 4.

And if you simply cannot wait to head back to The Ton, the first three seasons of the show are available for streaming on Netflix.
