When is Princess Diaries 3 coming out?

The film is still in the early stages, so a release date wouldn’t be set for a while as it hasn’t even gone into production yet.

Will Anne Hathaway be back for Princess Diaries 3? Who else will be in the film?

Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis Renaldi, Genovian princess. She confirmed her return for the threequel on Instagram, proving miracles do, indeed, happen.

As for Hathaway’s former costars for the first two films, it is unclear whether either Julie Andrews or Chris Pine will return for the third film.

When asked on Today with Hoda and Jenna if he has been asked to return to his previous role, Pine said “I don’t know anything.”

Both Jenna Bush and Hoda Kotb gushed that he had to come back for the third film because he has a major role, to which he added “Call Disney! Call Bob Iger!”

“Honestly, I don’t know anything about it. I think it’s fantastic,” he added.

Julie Andrews last spoke about the possibility of returning for a third film in 2022.

“I think we know that it’s probably not going to be possible,” Andrews told Access Hollywood. “It was talked about very shortly after [the second sequel] came out, but it’s now how many years since then? And I am that much older and Annie the princess, or queen, is so much older. And I am not sure where it would float or run.”

Hathaway wants Andrews to be involved.

“I would more than entertain it, I’m pulling for it,” she told Entertainment Tonight while promoting her new film, Armageddon Time. “If there’s any way to get Julie Andrews involved, I think we would make it work. We would go to where she was and put a green screen behind her and just make it happen.”

Who is directing Princess Diaries 3?

Adele Lim (Raya and the Last Dragon, Joy Ride) will direct the threequel film. Lim wrote the 2021 animated feature, and she made her directorial debut with Joy Ride (2023) starring Ashley Park, Stephanie Hsu, Sherry Cola and Sabrina Wu. She also wrote Jon Chu’s Crazy Rich Asians (2018), and she was a writer-producer on One Tree Hilland Lethal Weapon. She served as co-showrunner on Star-Crossed.

Who else is behind Princess Diaries 3?

Debra Martin Chase is producing Princess Diaries 3. EPs include Lim’s producing partner Naia Cucukov and Melissa Stack. Flora Greeson is writing the screenplay.
