But in September, Netflix is losing fan-favorite TV shows like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin, as well as popular movies like the Back to the Future trilogy, Natural Born Killers, Clerks, Dumb and Dumber, Conan the Barbarian, and more.
The good news is that Netflix lets us know ahead of time which television programs and films are heading out the door. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of Quentin Tarantino and director Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers. There are even some themes in the movie that easily carry over to the age of social media. Think of Mickey (Woody Harrelson) and Mallory Knox (Juliette Lewis) as a twisted version of influencers. They love to leave bodies in their wake, and TV journalist Wayne Gale (Robert Downey Jr.) helps make sure the public sees them as folk heroes.
Through flashbacks, the film reveals how the couple came together and why they’re so messed up. Even the man chasing Mickey and Mallory down, Detective Jack Scagnetti (Tom Sizemore), has an inner darkness that rivals their own. What Jack doesn’t know is that Mallory and Mickey aren’t just celebrity murderers, they’re ahead of the curve in an insane world.
