'Cobra Kai' new release date is New Year's gift; check out our Season 3 clip
Season 3 of "Cobra Kai" is ready to strike.
The next installment of "The Karate Kid" sequel centered on William Zabka's Johnny Lawrence, decades after losing to Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso at a tournament in the 1984 movie, arrives on Netflix January 1, a week earlier than planned. During the series' first two seasons (originally released on YouTube, then moved to Netflix in late August), Johnny and Daniel both began teaching teens karate.
A rivalry between their students continued to heat up, culminating in a widespread brawl at school during the Season 2 finale. A kick from Johnny's estranged son, Robby Keene (Tanner Buchanan), sent Miguel Diaz (Xolo Maridue?a) flying over a balcony. After his spine collided with a stair railing, he laid unconscious at the bottom of the stairs.
"He's gonna pull through, right?" a concerned Johnny asked Miguel's doctor in the finale. "We're doing everything we can," the doctor responded.

In a Season 3 clip exclusively at USA TODAY, Miguel has survived his injury but worries he won't regain the use of his legs. Johnny visits Miguel at the hospital to find him reaching for his cell phone. Johnny pulls the tray on which it lies farther away.
"Go get it," he directs Miguel.
"I can't walk! Even with the surgery I might never be able to walk," Miguel says, before Johnny interrupts.
"Never. Can't. Those are just words, they're meaningless," Johnny says. "It's time for you to get out of that bed and do something.
"You're not a kid anymore, the world isn't just gonna hand it to you," he continues. "You want something, you're going to have to crawl across the floor – use your damn teeth if you have to. You're gonna do whatever it takes, and I'm always gonna be right here next to you, 'cause I'll always be your teacher. Now, go get it."
"Yes, Sensei," Miguel replies, with determination in his eyes.
