An Exclusive Look Inside Kering’s Caring for Women Dinner
Last night’s Caring for Women dinner was for the girls. The third annual gala hosted by the Kering Foundation raised nearly $3 million dollars to help combat gender-based violence via three organizations: Girl Effect, It’s On Us, and the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV). Gayle King served as the master of ceremonies for the elegant affair, which took place at The Pool in Midtown Manhattan.
“Gender-based violence knows no boundaries. It crosses borders, cultures, and socio-economic lines,” Fran?ois-Henri Pinault, co-chair of the event and president and CEO of Kering, said in a press release. “It is a calamity that affects the daily lives of women, and tears at the fabric of our humanity.”
Notables included his wife, Salma Hayek Pinault, Matthew McConaughey, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Kim Kardashian, Donatella Versace, Naomi Watts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, Viola Davis, Julianne Moore, Lenny Kravitz, Dakota Johnson, Jessica Chastain, Lindsay Lohan, Julia Garner, Lauren Sánchez, Kerry Washington, Linda Evangelista, and more.
As expected, many Kering brands were represented during the silent auction, including Bottega Veneta, Saint Laurent, Gucci, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Boucheron, and Pomellato. Brit Award winner Raye closed out the night with a performance, which was followed by a DJ set and after-party.
“At the Kering Foundation, we believe that continuous action is necessary when confronting gender-based violence, especially in the important work of prevention,” Pinault continued. “This commitment to stopping violence transmitted through generations is at the heart of the Kering Foundation’s mission.”
