Experts slugfest: Final 2024 Emmy voting begins as Phase 2 campaigning ramps up

And just like that, Emmy winner voting has started. Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here to discuss Phase 2 campaigns as voters start checking off their ballots.

After the dual strikes curtailed a lot of stumping last year, Phase 2 campaigns are back in full force now. Who has been doing the most? Who has been doing the least? Meanwhile, we may have an Emmy host — or hosts. Eugene and Dan Levy are reportedly in talks for the gig, which would make it the first time since 2008 that Jimmy Kimmel is not hosting for ABC, which airs the Emmys every four years in rotation with the three other broadcast networks. The Emmy-winning father-son duo — the elder of whom is recurring on the new season of “Only Murders in the Building” — certainly have the chops, but do we need a host? The last host-less Emmys was in 2019 when Fox carried the ceremony.

Elsewhere, we discuss whether Hannah Einbinder could beat Jean Smart at the Screen Actors Guild Awards if the “Hacks” stars are nominated together and more.
