Experts slugfest: Our first 2024 Creative Arts Emmy winners predictions

Can anyone beat Jamie Lee Curtis? Will Claire Foy really win a third Emmy for “The Crown”? Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here with their first Creative Arts winner predictions.

Curtis has been predicted for a Best Comedy Guest Actress Emmy win for “Fishes” from “The Bear” since Season 2 dropped more than a year ago and she is far and away the odds-on favorite. While “Hacks'” Kaitlin Olson is in second, does JLC need to watch out for “Saturday Night Live’s” Maya Rudolph after the launch of Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign? In 2020, Rudolph won her first of two Emmys in this category specifically for playing the soon-to-be VP in an episode of “SNL” a month after Harris was named Joe Biden‘s running mate (Rudolph won in 2021 and is currently nominated for hosting “SNL”).

After Foy pulled off an upset for Best Drama Guest Actress in 2021 for her brief appearance on “The Crown” Season 4, it’s no surprise that she’s predicted to win again for her return in the series finale. That would give the 2018 Best Drama Actress champ three Emmys for playing Queen Elizabeth II on the royal drama. But with “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” over-performing and fielding three nominees, could the Prime Video series not only win this category but Best Drama Guest Actor too?

Elsewhere, we discuss if RuPaul Charles can be defeated in reality host, the lack of other nominations for the TV movie nominees and more.
