The “Anora” as “Parasite” comparison has already been noted, but one listener believes that “The Brutalist” could be the next “Tár.” An prestige festival hit with an acclaimed lead performance by a past Oscar winner that receives a bunch of Oscar nominations but wins none? Certainly possible, but we discuss why that’s not a perfect analogy and why “The Brutalist” might have a better Oscar night than Lydia Tár did.

Meanwhile, Berger is currently in fifth place in the Best Director odds for “Conclave,” which is in second in the Best Picture odds. One listener, however, feels Berger could easily be overlooked, not unlike his snub for “All Quiet on the Western Front.” But with the director race pretty open at this stage, there’s room for him and fellow past snubbee Denis Villeneuve, who kicked off the “Dune: Part Two” campaign last weekend.
