As a fan of The Bold and the Beautiful, I'm enjoying Bill Spencer as a Girl Dad

It’s no secret that I was really hoping Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) was Luna’s (Lisa Yamada) father on The Bold and the Beautiful. Now that we’re starting to see the new Dollar Bill in action, I’m even happier that he’s Luna’s father.

In the July 10 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Bill flexed his Girl Dad muscles by warning Hollis (Hollis W. Chambers) that Luna has a boyfriend. Luna quickly reassured her father that Hollis wasn’t trying anything and that they were all friends, but Bill insisted that he knows guys and how guys think, and knows what Hollis is after. He’s the father of three sons, after all.

The irony here is that Diamont is the father of seven boys in real life, making his adventures into Girl Dad-dom even more entertaining. (Let’s hope he ends up with loads of granddaughters!)

Bill Spencer is out of his league with Luna right now but he’s trying hard to learn how to adapt to meeting her needs as a father. It’s very different than being the father to boys, he’s finding, but he’s working hard to show her that he cares.

And it’s so much fun seeing the formerly stern media mogul softening in other areas of his life, too. Even Deacon (Sean Kanan) is surprised that Bill offered condolences about Tom (Clint Howard). He’s seeing another side of Bill Spencer and it’s shocking to him.

There’s something about a good fish out of water story, and this is one of the good ones. After being the playboy billionaire mogul for so long, discovering that he has a daughter has transformed Bill’s life for the better. He’s seeing a new perspective and he’s thinking about how he lived in the past and how he wants to live in the future. Naturally, New Bill will be a great addition to the entire Spencer family. Though they’re grown men, Wyatt (Darin Brooks, who really needs to come back to the show!) and Liam (Scott Clifton) will see their father in a new light while young Will has a chance to grow up with this newer version of his father.

Of course, Bill is still Bill. There’s a very real possibility that he could learn about Poppy’s (Romy Park) secrets and end up backing away from Luna’s mother in favor of the love of his life, Katie (Heather Tom). Hopefully, this won’t impact Bill’s relationship with Luna (we have a feeling that Luna will need some space from her mother after learning those secrets, too), but there’s no question that the lessons Bill’s learning as a Girl Dad will help him navigate everything that happens in his personal life moving forward.

The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS and the following day on Paramount Plus. Check your local listings to see when it comes on where you are.
