Fans Agree Miley Cyrus Is ‘A True Disney Legend’ While Accepting Award
Miley Cyrus is "a true Disney legend" according to fans and critics alike.
On Sunday, Aug. 11, the 31-year-old pop star became the youngest-ever Disney Legend, accepting the award at this year's D23 Expo with an emotional speech that included a nod to her record-breaking series Hannah Montana.
As the "Flowers" songstress let the news of her new award sink in (her second big win this year; let us not forget she earned her first Grammy back in February), her loyal fans were ready to celebrate right there with her, honoring the massive achievement online.
"Congratulations @Miley Cyrus !!!!" one fan exclaimed in a reply to a now-viral TikTok video of her acceptance speech. "A true Disney legend."
"Long live Miley Cyrus!" a second declared. "Long live Hannah Montana!"
Several others declared the actress "my childhood" as they congratulated the singer.
"she’s so iconic idc," another social media user shared via X (formerly Twitter).

As for Cyrus' speech, it left everyone a little teary-eyed.
After being introduced to the stage by Lainey Wilson–who also performed Cyrus' 2006 hit, "The Best of Both Worlds," made for (and famous by) the hit series–the recently-crowned Grammy winner told the audience: “I’m gonna let everybody get on a little Disney Legend secret. I’m the one that tells you what you’re not supposed to know. And what I want to say, is that legends get scared, too. I’m scared right now, but the difference is we do it anyway, and all of you can do that every single day. It’s legendary to be afraid and do it anyway. There is no such thing as failure when you try."
She went on to joke about the decision that led to her being cast in the leading role of the series that originally aired from 2006 to 2011. “In 2005, Disney was on a mission to rebuild the company," Cyrus said with a laugh. "That’s why they hired Bob Iger, and me."
But on a more serious note, she said she stood there "still proud to have been Hannah Montana."
"This award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality," she said before seamlessly adding a Hannah Montana reference. "To quote the legend herself, ‘This is the life.'”
