Fans Say Cyndi Lauper Is an ‘Absolute Legend’ for Recreating ‘Iconic’ Taylor Swift Video
Taylor Swift’s fans loved seeing Cyndi Lauper put her own spin on a memorable video that Swift shared on social media earlier this month to celebrate the U.S. return of her hit Eras Tour.
Swift, 34, first kicked off her popular tour in the U.S. in March 2023. She later took her show overseas, performing in sold-out venues in several countries before bringing the tour back to the U.S. in mid-October 2024. To mark the Eras Tour’s first date back in Miami, Fla., the pop superstar shared a video of herself walking into an empty stadium hours before the show on Oct. 18.

In her video, Swift wore a mustard yellow sweater and light-wash jeans while holding Olivia Benson, one of her three cats, in her arms. She paired the video with a clip from “Whatchu Kno About Me” by GloRilla and Sexyy Red. “Back in the office… ??,” Swift wrote to caption the post, which her fans were quick to call “iconic” in their excitement for the Eras Tour’s return after its nearly two-month break.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, Lauper recreated Swift’s video as she psyched up her fans for a couple of her own shows. The “Time After Time” singer is currently on her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, with two scheduled concerts this weekend in Boston, Mass., on Saturday, Oct. 26, and in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, Oct. 27.
In her video, Lauper, 71, was filmed from behind as she walked into a near-empty venue. As the camera moved around her, it was revealed that Lauper was clutching a bright pink wig in her arms, much like Swift did with her cat. Lauper, who also paired the clip with “Whatchu Kno About Me,” tagged Swift in her Instagram caption as she wrote that she too was “Back in the office.”
“Genius! Absolute Legend ??????????,” one Instagram user wrote in their comment on Lauper’s post as another agreed, “now THIS is legendary ??.”
One fan called the “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” singer an “Icon,” while another called her a “Diva ????????????????” and a third declared Lauper a “queen.”
“Love this so much ????,” another fan commented.
