Fans Lose It Over Gwen Stefani's Throwback Photo in 'Cryptic but Exciting' Update
Fans are melting down as they attempt to decode the meaning behind Gwen Stefani’s “cryptic but exciting” social media post.
The “Hollaback Girl” singer recently celebrated the 20-year anniversary of her hit album Love. Angel. Music. Baby. with a series of throwback photos as she alerted fans that a special limited edition vinyl will be released in November.
Fans now believe the No Doubt frontwoman has another announcement on the way after she posted a different throwback photo on Instagram on Friday, Sept. 6.
The Voice coach's four-part Instagram carousel began with what appeared to be a photo of Stefani, now 54, smiling while pressing a pink flower to her nose as a young girl. The undated photo was followed by a more recent snapshot showing Stefani wearing headphones and gazing intently in front of her at something out of view. In the third photo, Stefani held a mug that appeared to have the word “blossom” printed on one side. She ended the carousel with a video showing a field of pink flowers in bloom.
Stefani stuck with the flower theme for her caption, which employed a single emoji: “??.” She later added a comment to the post that fueled fan speculation, writing, “Hummmmmm?”
“Oohhh I sense something coming! ??,” one fan wrote.
“I AM SO EXCITED,” another fan said as one Instagram user dubbed the post “Cryptic but EXCITING! ??.”
Several of the “Cool” singer’s fans began guessing what the post could mean, with some hoping for a No Doubt reunion tour as others suggested a new album might be on the way.
“Still waiting for the no doubt reunion tour to be announced!! ????????????????????????????,” one fan of the band commented as another begged for the band to tour in 2025.
“Album release when ??,” one Instagram user wanted to know.
“@gwenstefani omg are we??blooming into the change (album)??,” one fan guessed. Their comment included a lyric from “Purple Irises,” the song that Stefani and her husband, Blake Shelton, released together earlier this year.
“Hope you have new music blooming soon!!????????,” another fan who picked up on the flower theme wrote.
