Fans Praise Sebastian Stan for 'Uncanny' Performance of Donald Trump in 'The Apprentice' Trailer
It looks like Sebastian Stan won't be getting "fired" from his job portraying Donald Trump.
After seeing the trailer for the upcoming film The Apprentice, fans were left astounded and impressed over Stan's performance as the controversial former president, whose early career as a businessman in New York is chronicled in the Ali Abbasi-directed historical drama film.
The new preview video, which dropped on YouTube on Tuesday, Sept. 10, features the Captain America actor, 42, representing Trump throughout the '70s and '80s as he chased a successful real estate career under the mentorship of attorney Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong in the film.
And according to several users commenting on the trailer clip, Stan's portrayal of Trump already appears to be more than spot on.
"Oh my god, near the end i had to convince myself its Sebastian stan!!!" someone wrote in the comments on YouTube, while another user added, "Good lord, the portrayal is uncanny."
"Sebastian Stan really nailed Trump's mannerism," someone else commented.
Others predicted that the new movie could be a pivotal moment in Stan's career, as one user exclaimed, "Get that Oscar Sebastian Stan!" The Pam & Tommy actor has never been nominated for an Academy Award before.
Some people also used the opportunity to poke fun at Trump, 78, with one user writing, "Finally, a prequel about that extra guy from Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992)."
Aside from proving Stan's acting chops to fans, the new movie trailer also left several users excited about the film's theatrical release, which is scheduled to take place next month.
"I'll be there day one," one commenter promised.
The Apprentice releases in theaters on Friday, Oct. 11.
