Fans Send Encouraging Words to Vienna Swifties After Canceled Eras Tour Shows

Taylor Swift fans are rallying around each other amid the disappointing news of her canceled Eras Tour shows in Vienna.

On Wednesday, Aug. 7, it was announced that Swift's three concerts scheduled in the Austrian capital would not be taking place due to a suspected terror plot.

Taylor Nation confirmed the news on Wednesday, issuing a statement via social media that read, "We have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone's safety."

Fans who already purchased tickets to this weekend's shows were promised a refund within the next ten business days—but for some Swifties, the cost of the tickets is the least of their worries.

Many fans of the "Anti-Hero" singer immediately took to social media to address the disappointing news, with Swifties from all over joining together to comfort the "heartbroken" fans in Vienna who will not be able to see the history-making show as planned.

"cancelling was 100% the best and most safest thing to do but im so sorry to all the vienna swifites who were meant to see taylor," one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after hearing the news. Similarly, another echoed the comments about safety, which "should always come first, this was the right decision !! :(."

A third called the move "a sensible decision."

Another account posted a "gentle reminder to let each other feel their feelings right now. it’s okay to be sad/upset/etc that your show was cancelled. it’s okay to be relieved that the safer route was chosen. etc. give each other the space to feel all of these things. so so sorry to my vienna pals :("

As Parade previously reported, authorities arrested two people earlier on Wednesday in connection with a suspected terror plot. According to Franz Ruf, the public security director at Austria's interior ministry, both suspects—including one 19-year-old—had been radicalized online and made "concrete preparations for a terrorist attack."

The 19-year-old suspect is also believed to have made a pledge to ISIS in July, and had a specific "focus" on Swift's shows scheduled in Vienna.

With this weekend's concerts canceled, Swift's next string of shows will kick off next week in London, closing out the European leg of her tour with five nights at Wembley Stadium.
