'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' makes for criminally cute Lego set (exclusive)
Fantastic Beasts makes for a fantastic Lego set.
Here is your exclusive first look at the upcoming BrickHeadz versions of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) from this fall’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
The 247-piece set, which includes 2-inch-tall versions of both the heroic Hufflepuff alumnus and the dastardly dark mage with the mismatched eyes, along with their respective wands, will be available Oct. 1 for $19.99.
The sequel to 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them finds the monster-loving Scamander teaming with his old professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) to battle the recently escaped Grindelwald and his followers, who seek to create a world in which pure-blood wizards reign over the non-magically inclined. It is the second in a planned five-film Harry Potter prequel series written by franchise mastermind J.K. Rowling.
While Depp’s casting has caused some backlash, producer David Heyman recently told Yahoo Entertainment that the filmmakers are standing by their star. “We wanted someone who was extraordinary,” Heyman said, “who was a little bit off center, who had the charisma and the power to [match up to] the wonderful adversary [we had with] Ralph Fiennes. Voldemort was someone who was pure — you know, he knew no love, and he only knew hate. Grindelwald is a different beast.”
Also starring Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zo? Kravitz, and Callum Turner, and directed by David Yates, The Crimes of Grindelwald apparates into theaters on Nov. 16.
