The Fantastic Four: First Steps Teases Classic Comic Book Villain

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hasn’t even started filming yet, but fans already think they’ve uncovered one of the villains Marvel’s superhero family could be facing.

That villain is actually the first one they ever fought, way back in 1961 comic Fantastic Four #1. He’s called Harvey Elder, aka, Mole Man.

The evidence for that lies in one shot shown off in the debut footage from SDCC 2024. It shows a map of ‘60s NYC, with an underground section labeled Subterranea - that’s also the name of Mole Man’s domain.

So, what’s Mole Man’s deal? Basically, he lives underground and wants to lead an uprising against the surface-dwellers with the aid of his Moloids, mole-human hybrids.

After discovering an ancient underground world called Subterranea, Elder dubbed himself the Mole Man. His eyes were permanently damaged when he gazed directly at a highly reflective deposit of diamonds.

To compensate for his poor vision, Mole Man developed heightened senses similar to Daredevil's, although not quite as good. He’s also a super genius, and possesses advanced fighting skills with his variety of staffs.

The Fantastic Four will have their work cut out for them when the film comes out. In other news, The Fantastic Four switches release dates with Thunderbolts and makes an exciting casting announcement.
