The Fantastic Four Movie Casts Silver Surfer
Marvel has confirmed who’s been cast as the Silver Surfer in upcoming summer blockbuster, The Fantastic Four.
Actress Julia Garner will play the iconic comic book character, joining Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm.
Garner’s best known as the feisty Ruth Langmore in Netflix crime drama Ozark, for which she won Emmy and Golden Globe awards, and also portrayed Anna Sorokin in Netflix miniseries Inventing Anna.
The news was confirmed by a Deadline article, which states, “Sources tell Deadline that Emmy winner Julia Garner is set to play the iconic comic book character in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four.”
The last time we saw a live-action Silver Surfer was in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. According to sources, Garner will portray the female version of Silver Surfer, as seen in the comics, who’s called Shalla-Bal.
The character is cosmically powerful, able to destroy and manipulate all matter in the universe down to a molecular level. Silver Surfer also has superhuman strength and durability, and can travel at superluminal speed on a surfboard.
Directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision), The Fantastic Four enters production this summer, and is set for release July 25, 2025.
Before then expect plenty more rumors, such as a Fantastic Four actor responding to a ‘leaked’ shot from Deadpool 3.
