Rafael L. Silva has a new project right on the heels of wrapping up his role on 9-1-1: Lone Star. What’s next for Silva, who plays Carlos on the Fox drama?

Look for Silva in The Waterfront, an 8-episode Netflix series that was inspired by true events. According to a Deadline report, the series “dives into the flawed Buckley family, led by [Holt] McCallany’s Harlan Buckley and [Maria] Bello’s Mae Buckley, as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.”

Deadline shared that Silva plays Shawn Wilson, described as “a newly employed bartender for the Buckleys who is intrigued by the family and carries a secret that could upend the family forever.”

The series, written and executive produced by Kevin Williamson, stars McCallany, Bello, Jake Weary (Oh, Canada), Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Silva, Humberly González (Ginny & Georgia), Danielle Campbell (Tell Me a Story), and Brady Hepner (The Holdovers).

McCallany is best known for his role as FBI Special Agent Bill Tench on the series Mindhunter. Bello has appeared in many films and TV shows, which includes playing Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane in NCIS.

Silva shared the casting news on Instagram, writing, “thank you God. humbled & honored. ?? @deadline @kevwilliamson.”

In a September 15 Instagram post, he shared a series of photos from 9-1-1: Lone Star and expressed his gratitude for the experience.

“A chapter has ended and I all can feel is gratitude. Lone Star has been a blessing in my life. In summary, it has taught me I am all I need to simply Be,” he shared in the caption. “To Ryan, Tim, Rashad, our brilliant writers, undeniably dedicated crew, my irreplaceably talented cast mates (friends), thank you for allowing me to be me.”

He added, “To the fans, I love you so incredibly much. Thank you God for putting challenges in my life so I can learn. And thank you, God, for teaching me what true love feels like. And lastly, thank you, Carlos. Texas Ranger Carlos Reyes awaits you Monday, September 23rd, 2024 at 8P on Fox.”

In a 9-1-1: Lone Star Reddit discussion, fans shared their excitemet over Silva’s upcoming role. “Delighted for Rafa that he’s got another job but I will really miss Carlos,” one person commented. Another noted, “I am so happy for Rafael, it’s well deserved. Just sad to let go of Carlos and Tarlos but I am sat for watching him in this new role.”

Another added, “I’ll watch this. I like Kevin Williamson. I love Melissa Benoist! I’m intrigued about seeing him as a flawed character.”

On September 6, Fox announced that 9-1-1: Lone Star was officially ending after five seasons. “From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin’s 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television — Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear — for creating one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere,” Fox TV Network president Michael Thorn said in a statement. “Now in our final season of the show, we’re set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.”

The final season of 9-1-1: Lone Star premieres September 23 on Fox.
