‘Fatherhood’: Netflix And Sony Developing Series Adaptation Of 2021 Kevin Hart Film
A series based on Kevin Hart’s 2021 film Fatherhood is in the works from Sony and Netflix.
Directed by Paul Weitz, the film saw Hart portray a single dad who raises his daughter after losing his wife a day after the baby was born. Based on the book Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love by Matthew Logelin, the film also starred Alfre Woodard, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Frankie R. Faison, Anthony Carrigan, Paul Reiser, Melody Hurd and Deborah Ayorinde.
As Deadline noted in their exclusive report, Weitz will return to write and direct the Fatherhood series, which will be produced by Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat, Barack and Michelle Obama’s Higher Ground, Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey’s Temple Hill and David Beaubaire’s Sunset Lane Media.
Deadline notes that the project is already on a fast-track for production.
The report also states that Hart would likely not return as a star and would just be behind the scenes in an executive producer capacity. Another actor would take over the role he played in the film.
The series is overseen by Higher Ground’s Vinnie Malhotra and Ada Chiaghana and Hartbeat’s Mike Stein and Tiffany Brown.
